Hunters are the only pure DPS class with a reserve of mana,
even so they still perform as good as their counterparts. Hunters
balance (or the lack of it), has recently come under consideration
because it is non-existent at the top 2v2/3v3 but decent in 5v5. What
Hunters take into the Arena? Hunters bring abillity as Warriors /
Rogues, to completely decimate in casters especially when they are
accompanied by their pets. Hunters also have a great capacity called
Viper Sting, which consumes a lot of mana, which when coupled with mana
burn is very pleasant to use. Hunters also have the ability to drop
various traps, the most commonly used in Arena is the frost trap. The
frost trap releases a huge freeze, which slows anyone who enters the
area where it is case. A lot of top teams in 5v5 to use this kite
opponents around, minimizing their damage and forcing the team to
spread. A new change to hunters mana buff allows them to recover more
quickly when mana is lower, meaning hunters do not become completely
useless when approaching 0 mana. Hunters have two speccs that have been
shown to be effective in 5v5 arenas.
One specification that has recently been a favorite among hunters in
teams of 5v5 Beast mastery specc. Beast maser is a specc that greatly
increases the damage Hunter's pets do, and then at the same time makes
the Hunters damage improve considerably. Bestial Wrath is an ability
that transforms the PET and Hunter 20 in a second "god mode", where
they give 25% more damage and can not be stunned be subjected to crowd
control / anything. They are immune for all that time. This is great
because it removes pressure from healers, as it is not necessary that
every dispell cc off Hunter. Beast mastery hunters may also close down
a healer or a caster very well indeed. The speed of their pet coupled
with the speed of the hunter's attacks makes casting almost impossible.
If Beast mastery is renowned for its burst DPS, then Marksmanship is
known for its consistent DPS. Marksmanship still has the ability,
thanks to Aimed Shot, to break down an opponent quickly but is best
known for his ability to harrass the opponent quickly and consistently.
Marksmanship is the only specc used by Hunter on a top 20 2v2 team, and
he leads his bracket with it. Hunters plays with a priest, the only
healer chemisty Hunter has, and believes that Markmenship is the only
true top specc for 2v2. He tried Beast mastery but prefers constant
Markmenship damage and capacity gains through specc.
